This tattoo was done by Rick, truly an artist! For being the second tattoo he ever made, it's awesomely amazing! I absolutely love the detail in the butterfly! I wish I had more information about him to put on this site. If he keeps up the good work, he should have great success as a tattoo artist.

The Meaning of a Butterfly Tattoo

Butterfly tattoos are often chosen as a symbol of beauty, freedom, change and growth. Often times, people pick butterfly designs simply because of their symmetrical nature and their vast diversity of beautiful colors and patterns, which make them very pleasing to look at. Christians look at the butterfly as a symbol for the soul who has left the constraints of the body or flesh. Many others choose the butterfly tattoo because they see it as a symbol of change and growth, based upon its transformation from a caterpillar to a cocoon, and metamorphosing into a beautiful winged creature. Butterfly tattoos are popular mostly among women, most probably because of their beautiful feminine delicate nature. The lower back is one of the most popular placements for butterfly tattoos. The back and hips are ideal places because they look really cute when you're wearing a bikini, and you don't have to worry about it showing in the workplace, where it is still looked down on by many.

The picture shows Leticia and her best friend, Katarina, sporting henna butterfly tattoos on their hips. They chose the butterfly design as a symbolism of their friendship, not because the butterfly meant friendship, but simply because it was a pretty design that they both enjoyed.
